"Not in the face"

The "Not the face!" comment isn't a The Tick reference.

  1. Nerdy guys screaming "Not the face! Not the face!" to bullies predates the 1988 debut of the The Tick comic book by quite a bit. Probably goes back all the way to the first point in the English Language where it included the words "not" and "face" and the article "the". It's a phrase repeated all over the place. They aren't all referencing The Tick.
  2. Arthur's quote-unquote "battle cry" is "not in the face" whereas this description says just "not the face"

In Blazing Saddles the "conductor"(?) says "not the face!" to Taggert, so he gets hit in the gut.

Seems we have an exact quote here. Until we can find an earlier reference (because I'm sure there must be), I say this'll do fine, no? Also, Plater, sign your posts. --Antoids 20:58, 26 December 2007 (CST)

Bonus Spell Damage?

I (a Pastamancer) had used a diploma for the +myst, and while blasting frat warriors with Cones, I noticed the spell was overloading, which I hadn't noticed before. When Erudite wore off, the Cones stopped overloading. When I used another diploma to make sure that Erudite was the difference, my Cones began overloading again. I was running with +41 generic spell damage, and Cone's cap is 50. I *think* I might have been doing more damage with the spell, but the range was so wide and my sample size so small, I can't know for sure. But it's possible this effect also gives +generic spell damage, at least 10. Alternatively, I may have discovered a (the?) downside of the effect, if it lowers the damage cap of spells -- though I could see Saucerors liking the ability to splashback Wave more easily, so I don't know. Food for thought, though. --Terion 05:06, 22 September 2007 (CDT)

With a sauceror, I seem to observe exactly +15 spell damage. I guess it's worth checking to see if black face gives +melee, now.--Starwed 06:10, 22 September 2007 (CDT)
You say +15 here, but put +10 on the article page? Refined testing, or brain freeze? --Terion 04:17, 23 September 2007 (CDT)
Brain freeze/copy-paste error, I think.  :) Thanks for catching that. --Starwed 16:36, 23 September 2007 (CDT)

Weakness

Judging by the description, negative damage absorbtion? Since people would've noticed moxie changes. Naked adventuring anyone? --Antoids 18:32, 22 November 2007 (CST)

Lv11 PM vs ED, ~40 damage per hit. Vs ED with Erudite, ~50 damage. Damage taken +25%? --CofLBelgarion 05:59, 12 January 2008 (CST)

DR comments

I had tried out Erudite on one of my characters, a seal clubber, and didn't find it to affect damage taken. I thought, well bummer, that seemed like the best choice. I then tried my Turtle Tamer, which has a built in DR of 13 because of Skin of the Leatherback. I worked out, based on the Monster Damage formula, how much damage I should be taking from gremlins, and then applied Erudite. Testing at 0% DA and 50% DA, I found damage to be consistent with DR 13 without Erudite, and DR 3 with Erudite.

I thought, well huh. I went back and tried the seal clubber again, this time equipping a black shield (DR 10). This time, against gremlins I got damage consistent with DR 10 without Erudite, and DR 0 with Erudite.

So DR -10 for Erudite. My question is to anyone who helped spade Wrath and its DR of -4...did you find it possible for there to be negative DR? --Foggy 17:55, 23 April 2008 (CDT)
