Talk:Discount Telescope Warehouse gift certificate
From TheKolWiki
Early indications show that this appears at level 500 of the basement.
Early theories suggest that it is upgradable 5 times, and each upgrade allows you to view another level of tower monsters.

When used: You drop the order form in a mailbox in Seaside Town, and see a bolt of light whoosh across the sky over your head, toward your campsite. When you head back, there's a shiny new telescope there!
It's added a telescope to my campground to the left of my house (forming a whole new column). When clicked upon it gives the following message and two options:
Your campsite contains a shiny telescope from Discount Telescope Warehouse. You can use it to look at distant celestial objects, or you can take a gander at things a little closer to home. What's it gonna be?
[Look High]
[Look Low]
The first option gives the effect Starry-Eyed (You're inspired to great deeds by the music of the celestial spheres.) once daily.
The second gives the following text:
You peer into the eyepiece of the telescope, and scan the horizon looking for something interesting.
Off in the distance to the southeast, you spot a strange ring of mountains, with a cave leading into them.
You focus the telescope on the entrance of the cave, and see a wooden gate with an elaborate carving of an armchair on it.
Unfortunately, you can't see any farther than that.

Another message looking low for me
You focus the telescope on the entrance of the cave, and see a wooden gate with an elaborate carving of a cowardly-looking man on it.
and after ascension, one different:
You focus the telescope on the entrance of the cave, and see a wooden gate with an elaborate carving of a banana peel on it.

Possible ability
Hmmmm.....sounds like the messages you guys had are referring to the doors for the naughty sorceress' lair. I'd be curious to find out what doors you actually got. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Noneofyourdarnbusiness (talk • contribs) on 12 July 2007
8th Use
http://forums.kingdomofloathing.com/viewtopic.php?t=85748
According to that topic, when you use your 8th certificate, all you get it 100,000 meat. --wexer9 15:38, 3 September 2007 (CDT)
Well, seeing as I didn't screenshot it, this will have to wait until the next person is willing to waste a 8th plus certificate for 100k. (I might try it in ronin, just to see if it's possible) Barring that, I'm not using another one unless it's changed to something else.--WhiskeyJack 22:16, 3 September 2007 (CDT)
A waste? i don't think it's really a waste, seeing as how you can't trade it and there is nothing better to do with it, unless you want to put them in your DC... --Numerrik 20:51 9 December 2007 (CDT)
- Think about the resources needed to get 500 floors deep in the basement. --TechSmurf 21:09, 9 December 2007 (CST)
- That's a good point, Smurf. However, as a pull it gives twice the meat of an NS11 Black Lotus. Ponder. --TW 03:13, 26 May 2008 (CDT)
- Okay, yes, the meat could be useful for speed running. Ignoring for now the fact that Jick has said it can't be used in Ronin or Hardcore, for exactly such reasons. Even if it was, it takes a lot of time and millions of meat to get to the 500th floor. The usefulness of a 100k meat pull would basically make it required for competitive speed running, and requiring you to have to make the tremendous investment needed to get to the 500th floor not once, but at least 8 times, unbalances the game (especially the speed game, which pretty much would die instantly) to an absurd degree. So, yeah, thank goodness they thought of this and made it unusable in ronin/hardcore. --Flargen 16:05, 26 May 2008 (CDT)
badmoon
does it return to your campground after badmoon or is it perminantly lost? --Jotsund 20:55, 6 March 2008 (CST)
- Everything comes back after Bad Moon. --Quietust (t|c) 21:22, 6 March 2008 (CST)
