Unlocking

The notes state that in a frat warrior uniform 192 hippies need to be defeated to open this area, this is inccorect. What is the correct number? --Watermoon Dec 7, 2007

Shortcut

Seems there's a shortcut for completing the quest-- choosing "Make a fence out of the barbed wire", "Knock over the lantern", "Dump out the drum". I just had someone test this in Frat Fatigues and it didn't work. Can someone confirm that it works in Hippy Fatigues?

Also, that means there may or may not be another combination for Frat Boys. --TechSmurf 19:38, 18 July 2007 (CDT)

  • I just tried it with Hippy Fatigues, no luck. I just have dooks in The Pond, The Back 40, and The other Back 40. Maybe it's a side effect of seeing colors, as suggested on the forum? --Oracle of Wuffing 18:34, 22 July 2007 (CDT)
    • Also tried with Hippy Fatigues, as a Seal Clubber, no effects on. Nothing. --InvalidUser 16:24, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
      • I just did this with War Hippy Fatigues (TT), and it worked just fine. I used one chaos butterfly on the first generic duck I saw, then lined them up, and the tornado came as normal. --terrabyte 08:41, 16 Aug 2007 (CDT)
  • Tried this with Hippy Fatigues and got the tornado. I had a few effects, though I did not have seeing colors. I'm pretty sure I know why I got it, though I'll need to try a few more times to confirm. Just one hint: it has nothing to do with active effects. --Bale 00:55, 2 August 2007 (CDT)
  • I was successful at triggering the tornado in Frat Fatigues by doing something specific (in combat, but I'm not sure it matters) the turn before I started fighting the generic ducks in the barn. --Davidmac 13:19, 6 August 2007 (CDT)
  • I noticed there's a Paper Rock Scissors effect going on here (cold->hot->sleaze), so maybe something to do with beating sleaze (cold or spooky)? --Filmore 07:52, 3 August 2007 (CDT)
  • ok guys, try to confirm this. Put your ducks in a row (the barbed wire fence, the lantern, and the barrel, but while you are in combat with a generic duck, use a chaos butterfly. I got the tornado then. I did it previously (same outfit) on a different character without the butterfly use and no tornado. --Ashallond 19:08, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
  • same here: in th whole ascension i only used a butterfly in combat with the first generic duck and i've got the tornado.--Worthstream 19:33, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
  • >GROAN< 'Get all your ducks in a row', anyone? --Terry 19:56, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
    • yup. Ducks in a row, deal with hot and cold areas (fronts) and throw a little chaos into the mix. One tornado coming up. Question is...is there a shortcut like the chaos butterfly for the other subquests?--Ashallond 20:16, 15 August 2007 (CDT)
  • i had used a chaos butterfly before starting the quest, therefore not against a duck, and i'm still only seeing five ducks. perhaps someone else could confirm this and i'll update the page. --Evilkolbot 07:03, 13 September 2007 (CDT)
    • It's always been known that using it against a non-duck monster would let you take the shortcut. (That was what the initial discoverers did.) What needed some confirmation was that you could use it against any monster before the final choice adventure, even a generic duck. Someone attempted to add that info into the text, but somehow managed to phrase it so badly that it destroyed the original info.  :) --Starwed 14:11, 13 September 2007 (CDT)
      • The only time I used a chaos butterfly was against a Giant immediately after I obtained my first one, back in level 10. I got the tornado. I've updated the page.--Terion 19:38, 6 December 2007 (CST)

Used a butterfly on the first generic duck, made a fence out of the barbed wire... and immediately had to fight through 10 frozen ducks. Is there something to this "five in each area" thing that I'm not getting? --Jameslovelock 22:46, 27 December 2007 (CST)

  • Uh, did you follow the article's instructions exactly? Your note seems to imply that you didn't complete the barn before ducking. --Bagatelle 12:51, 28 December 2007 (CST)
    • ...aw, DAMmit. OK, I get it now. Slightly confusing.  :P Thanks! --Jameslovelock 09:58, 29 December 2007 (CST)
  • Tried just using a chaos butterfly from my inventory instead of combat, and it didn't trigger the tornado. Updating the article now. --EEpiccolo 06:38, 22 January 2008 (CST)
  • Allright, some insight here. I have used ZERO butterflies this (hardcore) ascension. And I stumbled on the tornado (wasn't even trying for the effect). Any comment on this? (In fact, I don't think I've used any since I started playing this game, unless I ran into a tower monster who needed it).Qaianna 02:53, 4 March 2008 (CST)

Additional Reward

as a frat warrior I received 3 bottles of thistle wine daily. Until war was over. --Drizzl 19:26, 16 August 2007 (CDT)

If not started

  • it's possible if not in fatigues to complete the quest to the point where there are no more ducks, without the farmer giving you anything but the brush-off. perhaps this should be put on the page. --Evilkolbot 14:47, 13 September 2007 (CDT)

If not completed?

The file states that if you complete the quest as a frat, you can fight 15 dooks after the war. As a hippy, 10 dooks. So what if you don't complete it? 5 dooks? Not available? What?--MaskedLihc 00:07, 28 August 2007 (CDT)

Why is being able to fight a duck a reward in the first place? Do they have special drops/a lot of meat or something? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moodragonx (talkcontribs)

  • Duck tape. --TechSmurf 22:00, 12 August 2008 (CDT)
    • Ohhh. Thanks. --Moodragonx 11:47, 13 August 2008 (CDT)

CLEESH

It appears as though a CLEESHed duck does not count as being cleared. Can anyone else confirm?--sworisbreathing 07:42, 16 July 2008 (CST)
