Fixed Yubi Shines's modification to the "All that glitters is not gold" reference. The proverb predates LoTR by many centuries; Shakespeare used it in The Merchant of Venice.--Case 08:32, 3 November 2006 (CST)

I think the "Stairway to Heaven" reference should be left intact, however; the form "All that glitters is gold" originates in that song.--Case 16:57, 3 November 2006 (CST)

I don't think so. I think this is just a reference to the proverb "all that glitters is not gold".--Jubbers 21:40, 3 November 2006 (CST)

I think that the "hummingbird on crack" message could be from "Metacortex" [1]

I suspect that the "wing'ed" part of the haiku is not a reference to anything, but simply a device to make "winged" two syllables instead of one, in order to force the line to follow haiku syntax. --Gunther maplethorpe 21:21, 11 July 2008 (CDT)

Yes, poets do this sort of thing all the time, to give lines the proper meter. "Wingéd" just means "winged", as in "having wings". I can't imagine this being a reference to anything. --Zergil 18:23, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
