This is the kind of hat a bishop might wear, to complement his turtleneck. Only the bishop's mitre probably isn't made out of Spooky Putty, like this one is. And he probably keeps his in a mitre box, not squished into an egg. And he probably doesn't use his to transfer the funny pages and make the faces all stretched out and weird.
