- The line about making a banjo duelist squeal like a piggy is a reference to the 1972 film Deliverance in which a local pig farmer forcibly sodomizes Bobby after telling him "I'm gonna make you squeal like a pig."
- The first hit message is also a reference to the "Dueling Banjos" scene in Deliverance, where one of the main characters participates in a banjo duel with a mentally retarded child.
- The word "shagadelic" is a reference to Austin Powers movies, where the main character used words that contained "shag" almost all the time.
- "This is my happening and it's freaking me out" is a famous line from the campy '70s movie Beyond the Valley of the Dolls which was quoted in the aforementioned Austin Powers.
