Notes

  • Rock Monsters have been removed from the game. The rockfish stomach, control crystal, crystallized memory, and floaty inverse geode are now relatively rare items; floaty sand can be dropped by Rock Lobsters or from using a relatively rare floaty inverse geode.
  • Initially only the rock snakes appeared. On July 29th, the rock homunculus replaced the snakes in higher-level zones. Later, on August 5th, clod hoppers replaced the homunculi in high-level zones, leaving them the middle ones. Strange rockfish were also seen in The Sea.
  • Crys-Rock appeared on August 26th in place of other Rock Monsters. Once defeated, he would not reappear, and the control crystal he dropped could be used to stop Rock Monster attacks entirely.
  • Originally, rock snakes would show up every 25-35 adventures.
  • After the appearance of the rock homunculus, rock monsters would attack every 45-55 adventures and only appeared in zones where you had already spent 30 adventures. However, equipping a charged magnet would return the encounter rate to its original level.
  • Note that the rock scorpion is not a rock monster -- it predates their arrival, and simply shares a similar name.
  • According to Jick, the He-Boulder familiar was adapted from an encounter that was originally supposed to be a rock monster. The image for that monster was to be the following:
