The sound of one of those annoying little bellhop-summoning bells is reverberating in your ears. It really makes you want to find the bell-ringer, rip off his bell-ringing arm, and beat him to death with it; quickly, before the bell-ringer can find sanctuary.

- The description could be a reference to Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, in which the hunchback Quasimodo is responsible for ringing the Notre Dame church bells. In one particular scene, Quasimodo yells "sanctuary" upon entering the church -- a common practice in medieval Europe when criminals and suspected criminals fled to churches offering the right of asylum.
