- This shirt refers to not only the common naval plunderer (with their silly, poofy shirts), but rather one who makes use of or reproduces the work of another without authorization, such as "illegally reproduced copyrighted images."
- The second line of the description of this shirt alludes to shirts that were sold with the DeCSS algorithm on them. DeCSS is a method capable of decrypting content on a DVD which was encrypted using the Content-Scrambling System.
