- This custom item was given to Foggy (#620717) for authorship of a Kingdom of Loathing-based puzzle, Unsound Effects, in the 2007 MIT Mystery Hunt. Coincidentally, Jick, HotStuff, and Riff participated in this event.
- The description uses the cipher from that puzzle, which is based on KoL's Sound Effects. Decoded, the description reads "The panda has a very lot of mysterious qualities, foremost being its skill at puzzles and general awesomitude."
- When item is equipped, the image of the familiar is replaced with that of the Panda in the character pane.
