No Fuschia For You

A flash of color catches your eye in the murky seabed of the Mer-kin outpost. You look down and see a half-crocheted bright fuschia doily, with the loose end of the yarn trailing off into the distance. Your brain rapidly goes through a series of associations: doilies, crochet, houses that smell like soup, tiny dogs, plastic-covered furniture . . . old ladies! Grandma Sea Monkee came this way!

You follow the yarn over a rise and into an abandoned tent, but it stops on the other side, tangled around one of the tent stakes. You unwind the yarn and take it with you.
