Although Kingdom of Loathing is was once described as a "coffee-break"-style game and is still (somewhat) approachable to newbies, the game is complex and mysterious. Spaders have successfully uncovered many formulas, but other mysteries remain unsolved. Below are some small and large mysteries. For others, see Category:Needs Spading.

The following details of Game Mechanics are unknown and unquantified:

• What are the mechanics for Ultra rare item drops?
• What is the Naughty Sorceress's block mechanics?
• What is the distribution of Tower guardians?
• What is the hidden or wrong component of the monster damage formula? (There is an extra +1 that shows up occasionally).
• Are all random quantities uniformly distributed? Do any follow the triangular (using two "dice") or normal distributions? (see http://forums.jick-nerfed.us/viewtopic.php?p=39149#39149)
• What is the distribution of The Daily Dungeon room 10 keys?
• Does the sleazy gravy fairy have a different drop rate vs. sleazy monsters?
