Louvre It or Leave It

You wander deeper into the gallery, and find yourself at a dead-end, standing in front of a large black-and-white lithograph that depicts what can only be described as an explosion in a stairway factory. Stairs crisscross the space at impossible angles, cunningly drawn as to seem almost photo-realistic while maintaining a degree of optical illusion that makes your eyes cross.

Someone has placed a small set of steps at the base of the drawing, as though inviting you to step up into it for a quick trip to Migraine Headache Land.

You wisely step away from the headache-inducing, almost-definitely-containing-a-maze, hyphen-overusing painting.

• This adventure is incredibly similar to the Violet Fog adventure, and the directions leading from one painting to another vary from person to person and ascension to ascension. A few subtle differences are present, however - once you enter the painting, you must wander around until you find a result, and you have no choice but to take the results given. The Louvre Map page will help you map your own maze, allowing you to get to the result of your choice.
• The Stat gains from the Louvre scale based on your unbuffed main stat.
• You will gain (3x mainstat + 1) Moxie or Mysticality substat, to a maximum of 200.
• When receiving the Muscle boost, if your mainstat is 66 or less, you gain (4x mainstat - 2) Muscle substat; with 67 or more mainstat, you get (mainstat + 200) substat, up to a maximum of 300.

• The Louvre is a world-famous art museum in Paris, France. Displayed within are pieces of art such as the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Ironically enough, not a single piece of art referenced in this adventure is housed in the Louvre.
• The name if this adventure could be a reference to the Jiffy Lube slogan "Lube it or lose it." More likely, however, it is just a reference to the common phrase "Love it or Leave it."
• The adventure could also be a reference to Owzer's mansion in Final Fantasy VI, where the characters must work their way through a haunted art gallery to rescue Relm.
• The painting depicted is M. C. Escher's Relativity -- see the various Relativity adventures for specific references.
• "Explosion in a stairway factory" is a reference to Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2, a Marcel Duchamp painting famously described as an "explosion in a shingle factory".
