• The membership is a reference to AARP, the American Association of Retired People.
• In addition LARP is Live-Action Role Play, where one might stun someone with a lightning bolt.
• "Oh, and if anyone questions your age, you can just stun them with a lightning bolt." is, most likely, a reference to the popular video depicting a group of older people LARPing. One of them is continually casting "lightning bolt!" while throwing small beanbags used to represent spells.
