 You're fighting the Hypnotist of Hey Deze
Near the Gate, you are accosted by a hypnotist. A Hypnotist of Hey Deze, to be precise.
He's never had a pocketwatch, and he's never counted backwards, but he looks like he has beaten up quite a few adventurers in his day, and it seems that you're next on his list. Y'know, his, uhh, list of adventurers. To beat up.
Hit Message(s):
He hyp-mo-tizes you. You cluck like a chicken and quack like a duck. Then you throw yourself off a cliff like a lemming. Ouch! Argh! Oof!
He stares deep in your eyes with his spiraling eyeballs. The spiraling shapes make you go insane. Ooh! Ooh! Ow! Oof!
Critical Hit Message:
Miss Message(s):
He tries to hyp-mo-tize you in the <skull>, but misses.
He tries to hyp-mo-tize you, but only succeeds in hypnotizing you, which isn't nearly as effective.
He stares deep in your eyes with his spiraling eyeballs. Turns out, though, their spiraling shapes are frauds and fakes.
Fumble Message:
If you lose the fight:
You are knocked to the ground. As the monster walks off, he drops a white ribbon.
Occurs at The Deep Fat Friars' Gate, ultra-rarely.

- Refers to the They Might Be Giants song, "Hypnotist of Ladies": "He's a hypnotist, hypnotist of ladies / Never had a pocket watch, never counted backwards / You won't remember why you liked him".
- The second hit text and the third miss text contain lyrics from the They Might Be Giants song, "Spiraling Shape": "The spiraling shape will make you go insane" and "Now that you've tried it, you're back to report" / "That the spiraling shape was a fraud and a fake".
- "Hyp-Mo-Tized" refers to David Letterman, who said that quote in one of the episodes of his show.
- "Then you throw yourself off a cliff like a lemming" refers to the Disney movie White Wilderness, which features a scene in which lemmings start to jump off cliffs. However, mass lemming suicide is a myth.
