Notes

• September 2008's item of the month from Mr. Store. Its in-store description:

  Crush your enemies,
  perform seasonal attacks,
  tranquilize your mind.

• Grants the following combat skills when equipped:

• Normally, only a single use of one of these skills is allowed per combat.

• The 17 Cuts is the exception to this rule. The use of The 17 Cuts does not exclude the use of the other four skills, and vice versa. However, The 17 Cuts can not be used if the player has the Haiku State of Mind effect, so it also can not be used twice during the same combat.

• Holding two katana (with the skill Double-Fisted Skull Smashing or the Disembodied Hand familiar) allows a total of two uses of the combat skills.
  • Combining Double-Fisted Skull Smashing with the Disembodied Hand familiar to equip 3 haiku katana allows a total of three uses of the combat skills.
• Originally the katana did not give a bonus to muscle or Weapon Damage.

• The weapon's name, combined with its description, forms a haiku.
• The five seasonal skills of the weapon refer to the concept of kigo as well as mora count, both of which are important components of Japanese haiku.
• The weapon's plural is shown as it would be in Japanese (i.e. "haiku katana" instead of "haiku katanas".)
