This is a piece of skin that used to be wrapped around an eel. Don't worry; I'm sure the eel wasn't using it and won't miss it. It's somewhat more humane than moleskin (won't someone think of the moles?) or Danskin (won't someone think of Dan?).
To see what kind of eel it's from, see if it hits your eye like a big pizza pie -- if does, that's a moray.
