Category talk:Obsolete Adventures

From TheKolWiki

Is it just be is does "Obsolete Adventures" have a negative connotation to it. It bugs me. Would some other adjective be better, like "Retired Adventures" or something else. "Unused Adventures" doesn't really imply that they were once used but no longer are. --JRSiebz (|§|) 22:38, 2 October 2006 (CDT)

  • Well, sure whatever you want, except I'd say "retired" is less specific in this case. As for negative connotions what exactly it the connotation we're trying avoid? Hmm, I don't see it, but if you do, others will probably too..--Dehstil (t|c) 22:48, 2 October 2006 (CDT)
    • By negative, I mean that "obsolete" tends to imply "useless" or almost "gone bad" in some way. Like, "Oh, I don't use that obsolete piece of junk anymore". I really don't know the best phrasing to use: "Former"? "Past"? "Previous"? heh, "antiquated", but that's almost like "obsolete". Or we can just go for S.A.T. words to aggravate everybody: "Quondam Adventures" ;-). --JRSiebz (|§|) 22:57, 2 October 2006 (CDT)
      • Suggestion: 'Removed Adventures'. --Emtu 23:02, 2 October 2006 (CDT)
      • Ok, how about that?--Dehstil (t|c) 23:05, 2 October 2006 (CDT)
        • What is this S.A.T.? Special Aggravating Text?  :) Anyhow, I like Retired as well. It just warms the cockles of my heart to think of all those geriatric adventures kicking back and enjoying their pensions... --Gymnosophist 23:20, 2 October 2006 (CDT)
          • I'll add "superseded" and "defunct" to the list, but I have to say that my vote is for "obsolete". I don't see the problem. --Jonrock 23:22, 2 October 2006 (CDT)

Should event adventures go in here? Like from the Gray Plague or St. Sneaky Pete's Oyster Day?--Dehstil (t|c) 16:30, 24 October 2006 (CDT)

  • Yes, it makes great sense. Before we do that, could we change the category from "Obsolete Adventures" to Retired Adventures"? Jonrock, in a post elsewhere ("I've really grown to like "retired"") has changed his mind, making "retired" pretty much of a concensus. There are only 29 adventures currently in "Obsolete", so it shouldn't be too much of a pain to change. Also, instead of having adventures be in both "Retired" and "Combat" (or "Non-Combat"), what do you think of putting retired adventured in only the single "Retired" category - since they are retired, it really doesn't matter if they were combat or non-combat. --Gymnosophist 17:31, 24 October 2006 (CDT)
