Effects are temporary, er, effects which can be acquired by a variety of means. Effects can affect your character in positive or negative ways. Some equipment items are enchanted to give Intrinsic Effects, which last as long as the item is equipped. The number in parentheses next to the effect in the character pane shows the number of adventures the effect will last.
