When Used

• From inventory:

668 scroll

You read the arcane runes upon the 668 scroll, and summon the Neighbor of the Beast. "Why have you summoned me?" he thunders. "Umm, er..." you stammer. "Okay, then, I'll pick something for you." "$command!" he shouts.

• In combat:

668 scroll
	You hand the scroll to your opponents. They unroll it, read it, and looks slightly confused by it. Then they tear it up and throw the bits into the wind.

• Against rampaging adding machines:

668 scroll
	You hear a grinding of gears as you feed the scroll into a slot on the front of the adding machine.

• After first using a 64067 scroll against a rampaging adding machine :

668 scroll

You feed the scroll into the slot on the front of the machine, and it starts clanking and vibrating as gears turn within its metal belly. It finishes with a loud *BANG* and a wisp of smoke rises from the top of it as it spits a different scroll back out of the slot.

64735 scroll You acquire an item: 64735 scroll

• After first using a 30669 scroll against a rampaging adding machine :

668 scroll

You feed the scroll into the slot on the front of the machine, and it starts clanking and vibrating as gears turn within its metal belly. It finishes with a loud *BANG* and a wisp of smoke rises from the top of it as it spits a different scroll back out of the slot.

31337 scroll You acquire an item: 31337 scroll

Notes

• In combat, delevels by 1 to 3 Monster Level.
• You cannot receive any drunkenness from the scroll if you are a Teetotaler or Oxygenarian.
• 668 is the number you get if you divide 1337 by 2 and round down.
• Before NS-13 this item was made by meatpasting.

References

• The "Neighbor of the Beast" (668) is a play on the Number of the Beast (666), based on the fact that (in America, at least) houses next to each other on the same side of the street usually have numbers two apart, as all the evens are on one side and the odds on the other.
