An Old Man (and the Sea)
Written by Nightvol

Jick and the horde have rolled out the first bit of content for a new underwater theme area.  The area is available from the main map to anybody who has a means of breathing underwater (and no, a snorkel doesn't count.)  This area, while small, is the beginning of a larger area which will be released in segments over the next few weeks, much like those "episodic games" which are gaining popularity.  More info after the jump.

The area can be accessed if you have the makeshift SCUBA gear.  The old man wants you to find his boot for him, which has been lost beneath the waves.  (PRO TIP: You can't find his boot yet, since the underwater stuff is very much a work in progress. Once we add the next handful of zones, rest assured that it'll be down there somewhere. -XOXO, Jick and the Gang)  Of course your familiars can't breath underwater, but no fear as the old man will give you equipment for them that will give them that power... for a -20 pound penalty.

The Sea proper is the first combat-based area in the game that costs more than one adventure to visit, unless you have a special effect.  For two adventures you can engage in duels to the death with the marine life.  Learn the specifics of The Briny Deeps at the wiki!
