September 2010 IotM: Greatest American Pants
Written by Nightvol
Thursday, 02 September 2010

The new Item of the Month is now available from Mr. Store, serving as an "updated" version of the old favourite, the Navel Ring of Navel Gazing.  The Greatest American Pants provide free runaways in a similar fashion to the navel ring, and also allows you to temporarily receive buffs of considerable strength.

For discussion, please refer to the Official Forum Topic!

The J&S Show, while it may not have a catchy intro theme, continued as normal this Monday. In the first hour we heard about Scott Pilgrim and Harry Potter; in the second hour some Q&A unearthed discussion of some potentially radical game changes.

Mid-month Game Updates
Written by Gemelli
Tuesday, 17 August 2010

It's been a busy time in the Kingdom for new content!  There's a bunch of new stuff for you to look at from the first half of this week alone:

  • On Sunday, a new "map quest" was released at Uncle P's.  This pair of old jeans contains a map to Ellsbury's Claim.  Check it out, but try not to get your feet too wet.  For more details, see our article on the map.
  • On Monday, the Deep Fat Friars' quest was changed -- new artwork was added, new content was written, and a new mechanism for keeping the quest moving forward was developed. That last point will be particularly interesting to the speedsters among you, because this is the long-awaited first step in removing delay() from the game altogether.  (If you don't know what delay() is, you honestly may prefer to remain blissfully ignorant. The bottom line is that you'll have a much better sense of how far along the quest is now than you did before.)
  • And on Tuesday, the August IotM was modified in two ways that should make the hipster less of a game-breaker than it used to be.  Specifically, "we've reduced the number of dudes that will attack the Mini-Hipster in a day, but made the attacks more likely."
Lots of goodness to sink our collective teeth into, with the promise of more to come.  Cheers, admins :)

It's that time of month again and Uncle P's is now stocking antique pairs of blue jeans. As previously, using the jeans unlocks some snazzy new content for your adventuring pleasure. Details are still coming in, but there's talk of a new skill which makes a certain zone a lot less time consuming. Check out the wiki page and the forum thread for details.

Introducing Marketplace v2.0
Written by Gemelli
Saturday, 14 August 2010

We've released a new version of the KoL Marketplace site, allowing you to track the latest purchase prices for just about any KoL in-game item you can imagine.  Click on the link titled "Market Place 2.0" on the left to see the new site in action.

It's exciting to have the new application up and running, but like all new software, we expect there to be a few quirks and issues to iron out in the coming weeks.  If you see anything that doesn't seem to be working quite right, please contact Gemelli in-game (#384532).

For more information about how the site works, or how to make use of its data, click the Help link near the upper left corner of the Marketplace application.  We hope you enjoy it!

120 Minutes of How to Pronounce Foreign Words

The August 9th Jick & Skully show is up (has been for a few days, sorry!) and it contains some pretty big news. Apropos of nothing apparent, Jick announced the possible demise of the much-maligned delay ( ) mechanic. What will actually happen remains to be seen, but the proposed plan is to remove at least one instance of delay ( ) a week.
